BIBLE SCRIPTURE

John 4: 13-15 NIV

13  Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” 15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

Have you ever been extremely thirsty? The kind of thirst that even after drinking different beverages you are not quenched and still want more? This usually happens after an intense workout routine or in extreme climates. In this woman’s case, her thirst was not physical, but spiritual. She was desperate for an answer; desperate to feel whole, accepted, loved, valued, and to know that she could be forgiven.

Chapter four in the book of John tells us about Jesus’ encounter with the Samaritan woman; someone who never imagined she’d have a personal encounter with this endless Source of life, and that that experience would change her completely. A woman who had great emotional and affectional needs was filled with an Eternal Fountain of love in just an instant. An encounter with Jesus definitely changes everything!

LET’S GO DEEPER

  1. THE CURRENT OF THIS WORLD

Ephesians 2: 1-2

“And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience.”

What is the source that influences your life? Is it the course of sin? The current of the worries of this world? Or the course of the presence of God?

Many times we are occupied with our daily responsibilities and let worry, anxiety and fear govern our lives. Walking the course of this world means a life with arguments against oneself. Arguments of sin and hidden things we have not been able to take to the cross. Everyone who is submerged in this current and drinks of its turbid waters will never be able to live a full life.

The Word clearly tells us that many times we are dead in our own transgressions. We are filled with the evil of our words, attitudes, thoughts, actions and do not even realize it.

Through the blood of the Lamb who was slain, we need to ask God to redeem us from the power of the enemy and rescue us from all sin. The result of this will be for us to dwell securely in the house of God.

  1. THE CURRENT OF OUR FEELINGS

James 1:8

“He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”

One of the biggest problems in a person’s character is emotionalism.

Many people make the wrong decisions or make them ahead of time because they are led by their emotions, what they feel in their heart, their state of mind or because they’re moved by a spirit of fear that takes them to make incorrect decisions.

The Word teaches us that the people who are led by their emotions are usually very unstable in different areas of their lives and are not consistent in their dreams and personal goals. They don’t finish what they start, and are usually not disciplined spiritually, physically or personally.

Ask for the blood that Jesus shed from His side when the Romans pierced it with the spear to cover you and break everything in you that prevents you from having the character of Christ. Pray that you could reflect Jesus here on earth and that the fruit of the Holy Spirit would be evident in your life.

  1. THE CURRENT OF THE SPIRIT

John 14:14

“but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

The right fountain, or source, is the one Jesus gives us. It’s the fountain of the Spirit.

The Word teaches us that where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. Chains break, strongholds fall, the kingdom of God is established, the glory of God descends and this flame consumes everything around it. The current of the Spirit is what guides you to the truth, it’s what quenches you and keeps every area of your life from being dry. It sets you on fire and takes you to fulfill the purpose of God.

PRAYER

  • In an attitude of worship, ask for the presence of God to come over every person present and to revive their spirit. Begin with a worship song.
  • If possible, give everyone a white piece of paper to wave in the air as a welcoming for the person of the Holy Spirit.
  • In this attitude of prayer, identify the contrary arguments (sin, vices, weaknesses, thoughts, incorrect open doors). Visualizing the cross and applying the blood from Jesus’ wounded body, declare that it is time for every chain of sin and rebellion to break.
  • On the count of three, they can renounce to all sin or everything that had made them go with the current of this world and emotions.
  • At the end, sing a song asking for the baptism of the Holy Spirit so they can be released from all incorrect source and for the fountain of the Spirit to be what fills them.
