When God visits us

1 Chronicles 13:13-14
“So David would not move the ark with him into the City of David, but took it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite. The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house three months. And the Lord blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all that he had.”

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

It’s important to remember that the Ark of the Covenant is a representation of God’s very presence here on earth. All of its sides were overlaid with gold and inside was the golden pot that had the tablets of the law, a portion of manna, and Aaron’s rod that budded. Above the Ark were two gold cherubim with their wings extended covering the glory of God. And Obed-Edom was the man who offered to have the Ark of the Covenant brought to his house.

Obed-Edom had so much affection for the presence of God that he wanted the Ark to be kept at his house. He was greatly blessed for opening the doors of his home for God’s presence to dwell there.

This man determined in his heart to receive the blessing and fullness that the presence of God brings. Because of that his life and family were transformed during those three months. Just like him, we need to desire for the Lord to visit us so we could see His glory in every area of our life, family, city and nation.

LET’S GO DEEPER

When God visits us:

1. THERE IS PROTECTION

When God’s presence visits us we can trust that we are safe. When we choose God, He also promises, not only to bless us with abundance, but He activates His angels to watch over everything we own and represent.

Psalms 91:1-2 MSG
You who sit down in the High God’s presence, spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow, Say this: “God, you’re my refuge. I trust in you and I’m safe!”

The moment we need Him, we can call to Him and He will come to meet us and visit us. He will be attentive to our needs because He promised to take care of us and take us to honorable places. That is why because in our relationship with Him we need to be fully trusting and dependent on Him.

2. MIRACLES HAPPEN

Just one home-visit can change lives! Jesus understood the principle of the home-visit which is why His ministry wasn’t only in one place. Jesus went all around the towns and faraway places with the objective of taking a message of hope and salvation, and to give life to every life and family. In the Bible we read about many people who were visited by Jesus and experienced powerful miracles.

Matthew 8:14-16
Now when Jesus had come into Peter’s house, He saw his wife’s mother lying sick with a fever. So He touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she arose and served them. When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick.
Do you remember the story of Peter’s mother in law? She was very sick, practically bedridden, but when she came into contact with Jesus she experienced the miracle of healing immediately. And in the verses above, it says that many more sick and demon-possessed people were brought to Jesus, but just by releasing His word of power they were set free, God wants to visit us so we can experience powerful miracles of family restoration, healing, deliverance and conquest.

3. THERE IS PROVISION

Did you know that the root of all evil is the love of money? Money is an excellent servant, but an awful master. In God’s divine plan for us all the existing resources of the kingdom of heaven are our inheritance, and God destined for us, His children, to take them and use them for His glory.

Recall that Jesus´ earthly ministry was prosperous; wherever He went there was blessing, abundance, and multiplication. Jesus not only knew the needs of the people, but He also met them because all of the Kingdom ́s resources were in Him.
The Lord Himself affirms in His Word, “‘The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’ says the Lord of hosts” (Haggai 2:8), helping us understand that He is our endless source of financial provision, and that when He visits us prosperity comes.

PRAYER & CLOSING

  • Before praying, remind the cell group about what happened in Acts chapter two, when Jesus´ disciples were all in one accord in one place praying for one purpose: a visitation from the Holy Spirit.
  • Have a time of praying in the spirit, asking for God’s visitation in that homre, releasing the fullness of His presence over everyone.
  • Take authority and rebuke all work of the enemy that has tried to go against them during the week (oppression, being robbed, division in the family, rebellion, sin, etc).
  • Bind the spirit of Bar-jesus with the blood of the slain Lamb of God. Barjesus is the spirit filled with all deceit, all evil, son of the devil and enemy of righteousness that wants to disrupt God’s righteous plans in them.
  • After feeling freedom, release over them the protection of the Most High, anointing for miracles and provision for their lives.
